Well, I can tell you why it made me giggle: 1) It sounds exactly like something Jazz would say, and 2) it's a rather humorous mental image. :)
I, too, like this Prowl much better than the previous version. He's using his tactical knowledge, but he's not being cold about it.
One more thing I wanted to note: I often have difficulty reading action sequences - I usually have to go over them more than once to be able to see them in my mind, but yours didn't get too wordy or technical. I can envision what's happening without getting tripped up in a lot of vocabulary.
