I seem to have struck home on a reasonable Prowl. Hurrah.

The thing about writing action sequences is to use the shortest words and the plainest sentence structure possible. That way you can get a lot of, err, action into the smallest space possible, thereby making it seem like it's all happening very quickly [well, there is more to it than that, but that is a good start, I find].
