Huh. I don't remember it being that bad, but it's been years ago, and I had no taste or sense back in my college days. A number of things I thought were good reads back then have fallen a bit short on re-reading them.
(Michael Moorcock, you have absolutely no clue what to do with a romance subplot, and political satire works better if you do fewer drugs while writing it. Timlett, Adams, your sword & sorcery novels were just softcore porn for men. How I missed this back then, I don't know. However, even back then, I knew Gor both sucked and blew).
*Ahem* Back from rant-interlude. I vaguely remember "Space Vampires" as being a bit incoherent, but I missed the rampant sexism. I guess it wasn't quite as blatant as Gor. Wilson's earlier story, "The Mind Parasites", was much better, and actually made sense.
