I really like this story. Sludge especially worked well for me for some reason. I guess because it's so easy to remember his voice. Hot Rod seemed to be a bit of a nice guy instead of losing his cool or being a hothead in general, but it's not as if he was out of character.
It's such a perfect first meeting for Sludge and the Dinobots and Hot Rod, though. It sets up their canon relationship perfectly.
