I kept picturing as the cringing image of him on dA somewhere.

In the comics, the Mayhems have a hellhound with them one time. It is said to be soulless. Strikes me as an obvious left-over from the demon era! Humans domesticate wolves; Decepticons domesticate demon dogs.
