An interesting ficlet, I like how you were going to show what happened to the 'Sue' (Sue reality warping powers backfiring it seems;) Also, pardon me while I squee over the sillest thing such as Inferno looming behind Red Alert, I love that pair. Also, nice to see what would have happened with the Ark Visit crew! Question, if it's the matrix causing the tree growth at the Ark, what was causing the huge plant growth at the Nemesis? Coral doesn't grow THAT fast (or that deep) normally.
Also, I hope things are going well for you! Did you enjoy the westerns splurge with your housemate?
Well things did warp around her (managing to hide despite Red's security, getting taken into the place by Prowl, going on a mission... Meh, don't mind me, I am odd when on pain-killers.
Oh dear heavens yes he looms, and I love him for looming;)
*face palms* Aieg I can't believe I did that. Not Nemesis, the ship they built and crashed in the pilot eps. Wow, note to self, don't type when dazed from pain meds...
Apologies. I hope you enjoy it then. I've never been able to get into wrestling, though many of my friends enjoy it.
Well, I am as much as I can be (can't flex the leg at the moment, I couldn't quite get it to pop in right this time). Once the swelling goes down I'll be able to shift back in correctly.
This has been happening to me since I was 16 I'm afraid, so while it hurts like all the levels of hell, I'm accustomed to it and simply try to be as normal as possible despite it... the fact that I have adverse reactions to most medications does not help matters however :S ...but what can you do but carry on?
*hugs and or skritches as you might prefer* I am sorry that you know about carrying on, as I've picked up from your posts that you have health problems as well (though I do not know what sort and I apologise if I am too forward in mentioning such)
Got it back in all the way, but ow that hurt, I think my spelling has bottomed out in response.
Primarily chronic fatigue syndrome, which is like the fatigue you get after having flu except it never goes away, on top of which I have breathing problems [combination of hyperventilation and lower back weirdness] and a battery of allergies and food intolerances [dairy's the worst, but but not the only thing by a long shot]. It's a fucking pain, you know?
[You apologise a lot. Do not worry. I am very hard to offend.]
Oh ick, I've heard of such and I know what a pain it can be to be tired all the time! *offers tea or pepsi* Allergies cause so many problems, I hope they are overall managable?
[Erm, yes I do. I was raised in a very formal manner and my manner set is a mix of my great grandparents, grandparents and parents generation, as in my syntax and many of my word choices. I oft have to stop and think to not bow slightly, or speak in an out-of date and overly formal manner. It is overall easier on the net, where I have time to stop, step back and make myself sound less formal and more 'modern/casual' or when I am with my family, with whom I can be very boisterous and casual. I will try to be less formal/old fashioned.]
Thank you. The pains dropped down to 'no longer have tunnel vision' so i should be back to my norm in time that I can hopefully get some sleep before work.
Thanks, but I can't have caffeine - gives me heart palpitations. Why is it I'm crazily oversensitive to everything EXCEPT painkillers? I'd like to hear a doctor explain *that* to me.
[It is ye old poem again ... "They fuck you up, your mum and dad ... "]
Oh I'm sorry to hear that. Caffine free tea then, I have some lovely earl grey green of jasmine tea, Twinnings I think.
Actually I get along grand with my parents most times, and it was hardly their fault that I thought my mom was playing a game and taught myself to read when she tutored students;) I never fit in with my peer group, so all of my friends were usually two generations older than I, the only friends I've really made in my age bracket were made through BWA, 2K5 and Botcon... it was... the first time I met people where I was not shunned or the like, it's why I doubt I will ever leave the fandom.
Umm yes. I work retail and landscaping part time and will begin teaching in a year or two. When my joints get bad I simply grit my teeth, keep smiling and keep going. When my hip dislocates I get it back in, take a deep breath and keep going. It is not that I enjoy the pain but I've learned over the last decade or two to push through it... I love working with things that grow and good, tilled soil... making yards beautiful and bright and the like. I am very good at teaching and love it when you SEE that moment of realisation in someone's eyes of They Got It. I also worked with animal rescue and rehab in florida but haven't found a local group up here that is not manned by pysco PETA nuts yet;)
It's a bit weird. I can have one cup of green or white tea okay, but two cups gives me heart flutters, but black tea is right out.
Mhm. I've made the best friends in my life through Transfandom and have no intention of abandoning them with the fandom; we have mutual interests outside of Transformers. It's just the greater mass of the fandom that's driving me to drink or disembarkation.
Damn, I actually envy you. CFS doesn't give me the determination-and-endurance-and-just-fucking-do-it option, it just sledgehammers me over the head and knocks me down when I do the slightest little thing out of order.
Fifty-plus people is a lot of humans for one tour guide and Inferno, Mr I-Am-New-To-Being-The-Responsible-Dude-Here, to keep track of. I think there's a bit of an unwritten rule with the Autobots that the tent campers get one free visit, and after that it's up to the humans to impress them with why they should be allowed to come back. Harriet, needless to say, failed right out of the gate.
Loom loom loom ... he looms so much he may as well weave ;)
Aha. That ship has no canon name; I call it the Resurgent. The plant growth around the Decepticon underwater base ... well, they're not that deep down, since there's still sunlight, and Carly was able to scuba dive down in one episode [Golden Lagoon, IIRC]. I'm assuming the 'con base is pumping out industrial waste of some sort, but it's not the same sort of thing that human industry produces [such as heavy metals, exactly the kind of thing the 'cons would rather hang on to and use, thank you very much], and also the 'con base puts out waste heat and light, rather useful for sea critters. Given some of the things that live on the deepest beds of the ocean, it'd be no surprise that some weird and wonderful critters might set up shop around the 'con base's waste vents and outlets.
You'll not that it's not just coral and sea plant growth down there - there are often whole schools of fish seen out of the windows. I'm guessing there's a no-shipping zone around the 'con base, which means no fishing, which paradoxically means the Decepticon base might well be better for the ecosystem than the Decepticons intended at all.
No need to apologise ... ? :: blink blink :: I didn't think I'd like it either. My housemate and I were over at my father's this Xmas and, she liking wrestling and it being on, she wanted to watch it. And since I didn't want to move I watched along, and made fun of a few things, such as one guy's huge furry coat. And then said guy did a crazy-type amazing move, causing me to go "Good gracious! That was really quite spectacular!" only with added obscenities. And my housemate then got me to watch more, and, well, it's six months later and I'm really not sure what I used to do without five different wrestling shows to watch in the evenings.
And my housemate then got me to watch more, and, well, it's six months later and I'm really not sure what I used to do without five different wrestling shows to watch in the evenings.
*bows* I can't help it if my boys are awesome, now can I? ^_^
Mr I-Am-New-To-Being-The-Responsible-Dude-Here... heee, I like that. And that is likely true about the one free visit. Despite it not quite applying I did actually like the tour-guides POV. And no matter what, Inferno showed up, and he and Red Alert are my consistantly top favorite characters.
*laughs* Yes, that would be interesting to see, mayhaps he could use his gun hand as the shuttle, since it disconnects naturally;)
True in that they're not that deep down, but coral usually shows up in shallower waters (granted this is mostly from experience/free-diving off Florida's shores and coral-bodies and med make me weird, I'm slightly allergic to them but I need them for the anti-inflammatory properties) Hmmm, ah, yes that might be the reason; Cybertronian waste might be different from human waste, however what about radioactive material or other industrial waste (Rad zone or Acid wastes for instance) ...how Chip wasn't effected by acid rain is still something I must wander about. You are likely correct about the cause. I wonder if the ship can still move, it does not have the growth on and directly around it that the rest of the base has. Resurgent, I like that name!
*laughs* Yes, the con base likely has a wide clear no-sail zone around it. I often tend to think that the Decepticons dug holes to gain access to the Nemesis and began to use it as a secondary base... which would mean a huge swath of land with no deforestation going on... now I must giggle at accidently going-green Cons.
I have an odd writing and speaking syntax... you should see me in real life I tend to bow my head or from the waste when saying apologies and gesture all about when speaking... habits I picked up from the asian and hispanic cultures I grew up within. *laughs* Yes some of the moves are quite 'wow' gathering, and I am glad that you have found something that you enjoy watching. I hope it continues to give you enjoyment as it currently is!
I meant more that he's new to being the designated Autobot tour guide, but yeah, he's not exactly Mr I Will Stand Stoicly Still And Be Calm And Rational, no.
Rath said she liked Sally's POV too. Apparently I hit something right there :)
And replace his hose with thread?
You've been diving in Florida? Do tell; Florida just keeps cropping up in everything at the moment.
Chip, I think, got away with the acid rain because the Autobots were sheltering him.
I'm pretty sure the ship can move. The 'con base is definitely near New York, based on several episodes, especially Girl Who Loved Powerglide, yet somehow got to the middle of the Atlantic in Day of the Machines. And then there's the ship-disguised-as-a-mountain in Prime Problem. So I think it moves, yes.
They may have. The Koiverse take on it is that they opened it up, stripped it out and abandoned it ... although Scavenger did find some interesting things stuck to the hull.
You have to wonder what effect Fire in the Sky had on global warming too. And the constant predation on fossil fuel energy sources and power plants may have pushed humanity towards more eco-friendly distributed energy systems, e.g. installing solar panels on houses. 'cons aren't going to raid *that*. Government'd have to do something like that if 'con energy raids kept causing mass blackouts. Note that there are humans installing Cybertronian energy systems that run on the Earth's magnetic fields way back in Heavy Metal War, etc etc etc.
Heh, you should hear me talk. My tongue's too big for my mouth, I spoonerise, I get words wrong [infamously calling the tumble drier a microwave for example] and my sentence structure is wretched. My brain just goes too fast for my mouth.
It's become a very handy non-fandom, so to speak. It's something I can watch for entertainment and as something to do in my downtime, something to play with data from, but not devote serious brain-time to the way I have with Transformers, leaving my mind free to work on original stuff.
Most certainly not stotic, calm and rational; but that's why we love him. Poor boy, first tour has a Suecontender, skinheads and more... for some reason I see Red recording this to snicker at later (also, thank you for answering the how in the WORLD do you stay upright if it's at an angle... and I loved Sunstreaker's cameo;)
I concure with Rath, you most certainly hit something there, a fun character to use at a later date in your original works.
But of course!
Well mostly it involves taking a raft out (you need something to raise the diving flag on, and a place to plunk a few shells and bottles of water, and having an anchor chain is nice) to a nice zone. drop anchor, raise the dive flag oxingate your blood while doing so (quick deep breaths mostly) then take 5 DEEP breaths, holding each as long as you can... take a breath and down you go. You have to make sure you don't get in a rip tide or go out to where you might have to worry about the gulfstream though (powwwwwwwwerful current) the west coast is overall safer and warmer waters than the east. I grew up in florida, only moved 5 years ago or so, and not by choice. I miss the warmth and waters.
True that.
Hmmm, that does help explain the multiple bases (the mid atlantic one would count more as a con victory, all the oil that was pumped off before the autobots got free was theirs.
Interesting!
*nods* Very good points on that, in order to survive with 'normal lives' the grid as we currently think of it would almost certainly be long gone.
I do that as well, my mind skips a few words ahead of what I'm saying and my mouth can not keep up. That I speak a bit oddly does not help matters.
And he probably got lumbered with it at short notice because everyone else was busy elsewhere.
Hmm! I never really thought of her beyond Generic Character #1 ...
Hhmmm! What's it like, Florida?
When you look at it, a lot of the 'con plots do end up with them netting big energy gains. The Autobots do shut them down, but usually only after they've walked off with buckets of energon.
Koipedia article on the Nemesis (http://koipedia.pbworks.com/Nemesis) explains it in more detail.
Yup. Also ties in with how Earth's technology in 2005 in the cartoon is far in advance of where we are now.
That does sound like his luck. But thank you for his cameo;)
Well hot for one thing, but if you like the heat like I do it's a good thing (it was so nice to just sit in the sun while I worked landscaping and soak up the heat. mmmm. Overall the people are more relaxed and accepting it's 'the only state where you have to go north to get to the south'; it's comparable to a more relaxed and tourist based New York city really. High Jewish and Catholic population, but really the only religious 'fanatics' that you'd meet tend to be the Jehovah Witness'. on my block they were there every weekend at least once, but they were usually polite and nice overall. The high Jewish popuation means it has the BEST bagels and delis and lots of kosher foods. It's... well it's really eternal summer there. You have 'summer' where it rains once a day and is sunny the rest of the day, and winter where it rains twice a day and is sunny the rest of the day;) The air smells of the ocean, and good dark earth and green things growing. The 'glades well some people hate the smell, others like it and there's the smell of cars and such too, but everywhere you go there's the ocean in the breeze. Hmmm, if you stick a stick in the ground it WILL grow (we had a 30 foot tree in our yard from me doing that). Tis black dirt over sand over limestone so even after a hurricane water drains quickly unless someone built the roads weird and the water can't drain. Hurricanes are a real threat but most houses are built to survive them and you know where they are. Hmmm, high hispanic culture, the asian population grows fast too and the indian (people from india) population was on the up also. Uhhh, what else would you like to know?
*nods* I think many people miss that but most episodes the Decepticons may loose the fight but they gained much in the way of energy and supplies before retreating.
*goes to read*
Yes it does, we've a character who took 'human studies' in our BW fics, but he only knows/studied human cultures from before the 'cross contamination' which means 70s and before. Mostly it was because he randomly decided that he knew and loved musicals while we were writing him.
I'm afraid I don't anymore. My orignal computer blew up (literally, small burn scars on my arm from it) so I am now on a linux and I can't get most if any chats to work, though I can get g-chat to work most times.
Hmmm. Really not sure what I'd make of the place. I'm from the east of England, a flat fen with wind imported from Siberia. That sort of warmth is hard to imagine.
Yup. Sometimes the Autobots stop them before they actually start up, but more often the Decepticons accomplish a lot of their goals before the 'bots put the kybosh on things.
You like?
Interestingly enough, in BW Earth is under interdiction, so who knows what's going on there?
Yow! My old 486 tried to electrocute me in its death throes, but that just threw me across the room. Have you tried Meebo?
Well with the warmth the only thing I can assure you is that one would bask or bake;) IT tends to be a love or hate instant response, or so I've found. I love the heat and the sun, as they ease the pain for me, but it's not for everyone.
True, true... which does explain the planet situation in the movie^_^
Aye, very much so! I've been slowly trying to read through your koipedia ever since discovering that it was there. It is very well rounded and researched!
A true point, and an extensive one as it was apparently to cover all of space-time in that zone and not just a single location... perhaps both factions wanting to prevent Megatron's gambit?
No, I've not tried Meebo, though I will look into it for when my laptop eventually dies. Thank you!
I can only assume bask. I spend so much time trying to keep warm or get warm, which is hard with the CFS, that I'd expect to like the heat. Humidity is another question ... my skin breaks out in blisters when it gets damp, especially if it's damp and hot. Argh.
Yup. The 'cons have been making gains all over the place by the end of S2, and there's another 20 years between that and TFTM. And note they're running a protection racket on Monacus by mid-S2, so it's not like the Autobots are covering nearly as much ground as the 'cons are.
Thank you! I'm not sure about researched though, most of it is made up as hell.
Space-*time*? Eh?
Meebo's browser-based, so it might work for you now ...
Well, it's *got* artificial gravity, it must have since people weren't floating when it was spaceborne, and everyone stands up okay despite the 30-odd-degree floor slope, so ... it's kinda obvious when you think about it, yeah?
It's me and, as Rath pointed out when she read this, I'm waving the Fish Stick around in this one. What else could you expect?

Well, the plant growth around the Nemesis is perfectly normal for the Amazon rainforest, under which it buried.

Koipedia article on the Nemesis (http://koipedia.pbworks.com/Nemesis) explains it in more detail.
Yup. Also ties in with how Earth's technology in 2005 in the cartoon is far in advance of where we are now.
Mhm mhm. By the by, do you use AIM?

Date: 2010-06-11 10:38 pm (UTC)Well hot for one thing, but if you like the heat like I do it's a good thing (it was so nice to just sit in the sun while I worked landscaping and soak up the heat.

Date: 2010-06-13 12:14 pm (UTC)Hmmm.

Date: 2010-06-15 10:31 pm (UTC)True, true... which does explain the planet situation in the movie^_^
Thank you!

Date: 2010-06-17 11:35 am (UTC)Yup.

Date: 2010-06-12 12:16 am (UTC)"Yeah, that too," Archie allowed.
Awesome. XD
"I guess that makes you a ... a lapsed Catholic Jew?" Archie said, digging himself deeper into his hole.
"Makes me pissed off at you for being a moron," Harriet said bitterly.
Hahhahah. :)
Do all their trucks sound like John Wayne?
Yes. This is a law.
I like the explanation about the Ark's artificial gravity.
And heh, sick, dark ending.

Date: 2010-06-13 12:10 pm (UTC)Well, it's *got* artificial gravity, it must have since people weren't floating when it was spaceborne, and everyone stands up okay despite the 30-odd-degree floor slope, so ... it's kinda obvious when you think about it, yeah?
It's me and, as Rath pointed out when she read this, I'm waving the Fish Stick around in this one. What else could you expect?
